hi nick!! i currently use the text overlays and sp-6 in serato to fire off effects during my show (i call them "power ups.") i'd like to make them a bit more visually elaborate, with some kooky mr skruff style hand drawn animation, at at least better graphic design that just a row of text. i could just make an animation and render it as a movie file, mix it with the sound and play as normal, but i much prefer to have them on hot keys so i can fire them instantly even if i'm in the middle of a mix of two other tracks. do i need to learn quartz composer for this? is that what it does? i currently have a full preset bank of text overlay phrases, but instead i'd like to have a full bank of animations or at least better looking text effects..... or maybe should do the power ups as an image and somehow key out the b/g? any thoughts? thanks mate tom ps. here's my show if you're interested! i'm taking it to the edinburgh fringe.
