DJ_DeanoC Just wondering how other people are combining the applications in use. To use the iPad combo with ME and serato you got to set up a wireless network between mac and iPad? So in using that network that turns off your wifi access to the router, which you need that on to update the twitter feed within ME through the quartz file. Am I missing something simple here? I would like to use the iPad as a midi controller for ME and serato and I've got a template with currently 2 pages to suit what would need. But still need wifi access when working in the club. Thoughts?
djnyce both touchosc and lemur works with a temp network between the ipad and the mac and on a wifi network. if you use the wifi network touchosc/lemur can talk to the mac and you can get the internet on both devices. you connect both devices to the club's wifi and connect the touchosc/lemur to the mac as you normally would. iconnect midi let's you use touchosc/lemur via a midi cable instead of via wifi.
DJ_DeanoC DJ Nyce, would you care to explain further? I was always under the impression you had to create a ad-hoc network between the devices, so that would be utilising the wifi between devices, and couldn't connect to 2 wifi signals at the same time?
djnyce @ DeanoC it's recommeded for the lowest possible latency to create an ad_hoc network. but as long as both the iPad and MacBook has the an ip address with the same subnet mask, touchosc and lemur can't distinguish the fact that it's an ad-hoc network vs connecting to a regular wifi network. like i said before connect both the same wifi network and you'll see that touchosc/lemur can see the macbook pro. as long as the wifi network strength and speed is good. you will not experience any latency issues.
DJ_DeanoC I've tried what you have said, and i get no joy. The only way i can connect is by creating an ad-hoc network. And i've tried it with all devices, macbook pro 13", macbook pro 15" ipad, and wifi router all in the same room.
BenJamInn Hi Deano, It is quite possible the club have set their wireless network up with strict restrictions if it is an open public WiFi connection. The way I have got round this in the past is to buy a separate wireless access point that you can connect via the MacBook's Ethernet port. This allows you to connect 'adhoc' to the iPad using the built in wireless, then using the AP connect to the internet. In terms of security this is a far better way of doing things as you don't have your critical ipad/macbook connection open to the world, and you also benefit from the low latency of the adhoc connection. Hope this helps Ben
DJ_DeanoC Hi Ben. I've been trying this at home, not in the club. The club wifi system is 'free' but they do have a keycode and you have to register a e-mail (or something like a@b) as long as its got a @ sign. I guess maybe buying a Apple hub (time capsule or airport extreme) may help this. Plus i guess i could use this to set up the camera feeds also?
