Adding iPad to setup

Ok so I wanted to be able to add my iPad (3rd gen) to my setup and use it to control the transitions etc in my video sets seeing as I use a Pioneer 600 mixer & I'm sick of hitting shift1 every time I want to trans from deck to deck. What programs do I need to have installed onto my iPad and what are the setup steps I need to take to make sure I get this up and running?

There are a number of Apps for the iPad. I've noticed that a lot of people are using TouchOSC.

I've had great success using Lemur by Liine. Much simpler to set up than TouchOSC, totally customisable and can be as simple or as complex as you want to make it.

Hi Benjamin, I was wondering regarding Lemur, where you able to find a template or did you build one of your own ? Because i'm looking into this for controlling (FX, Transitions, Overlay's, etc..) but couldn't find a decent starting point so far. Thanks b m

Hi Markus, I wrote my own one firstly because as you say there isn't really anything other than very generic setups available, and secondly because I wanted it to work in a very specific way. The Lemur editor is very quick to learn (albeit a bit daunting to look at at first!) but the tutorial videos on Liines site are very good. For the more complicated bits (scripting etc) you can look in the user uploaded templates, download something similar to what you want and see how they did it. (I did this with trying to work out how to dynamically change text so that the labels on my buttons changed to mirror what was happening in ME). From downloading the program to having a usable workspace took me an afternoon and now I just tweak bits as and when needed. If there is call for it, I could produced a 'basic' ME template to get people started.
