Serato & Mix Emergency Lagging & Crashing

Played a video gig the other night and everytime I loaded a video to a deck, it would cause the videos to freeze, sometimes for a few seconds, sometimes like +30 secs. These lengthy freezes would cause serato waveforms to drop for 2 secs at a time, cutting the song in and out with the crowd wondering wtf was going on. I am an avid VJ and these things don't happen. I run the following: Serato 2.3.0 ME 2.0.1 Mac OS X 10.6.8 2.66 Ghz Intel Core i7 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 All videos are from Smash Vidz or VJ Pro (now) and are ran off my Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex 1TB external (brand new) 2 Technics M5G Turntables 1 Rane TTM57 Airport was off, all other programs were shut down, I was hooked into a HDMI splitter w/amp that was split to 50inch LCDs. I don't know if there any settings I can set in ME or Serato or my display settings that can rid of this freezing, waveform lagging, or crashing? Help please. -Chris

Hey Chris - can you please e-mail me your MixEmergency log file? You can find it at: ~/Movies/MixEmergency/MixEmergency.log Also, did you notice any messages from Scratch Live along the status/message area at the bottom? (e.g. any tag writing messages)

Well, currently I suspect that tags are being re-written by Scratch Live.

I suspect the same... I had "tested" 2.3.3 when it first came out and experienced the same hangups. Nobody had told me to re-scan my video files! Now with a fully re-analyzed library, I am humming along with the latest ME and serato 2.3.3.... with all my tags written in the new format.
