Exporting a video mix

What is the best way 2 export without sacraficing quality and size? I exported a 15min video mix (.mov 1080x720) came out lookin fine but the video itself was 4+gigs? Iv seen people make 1.5-2hr video mixes and there half the size n they dnt lose much quality? Wat would be the bet way 2 export and Wat file type (mov,AVI,mp4, etc)? I'm tryin 2 burn my mixes on DVDs (4.7g's) but would also like to put some 15min mixes on YouTube , but the files are jst to big?

Files become smaller when they convert to be added to dvd.

Automatically? I'm usin iDVD but it still didn't shrink the file? Is there somethin I'm doin wrong when pushin record?

I haven't exported too many videos at 1080p - but with those higher HD dimensions, then you're going to end up with much larger video files. I can't really give you a specific setting that you might want to use - as it always depends on the level of quality that you're happy with for the video (what some people may find acceptable, in terms of compressions artifacts, other people don't).

Wat about normal settings for a mp4 video some websites have these great quality videos about 20min mixes that are 300mb n size? The videos are exported at 630x480 and they look real clear but when I try the same setting the video comes out vary choppy and pixelated?

I don't know exact settings to give you. You could try a bunch of settings on a short (1 minute) video mix and find something that you're happy with. Some encoders allow you to specify a bitrate setting - so I would start by playing around with that until you get output that you are happy with (in terms of image quality and file size).

I use to use IDVD I don't anymorebecause I use TOAST the reason I use it is becasue it exports faster to dvd. I record almost 2 hours at the same settings as you and they fit using IDVD. Honestly if your mixes are 4 gig a dvd hold 4.7 it should fit unless you have large menus with movies in them. I suggest you go into the settings and change it from best the the next lower trust me you won't notice the diffrence and it will fit then. http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1645 this should help you...

FYI as you change quailty you will notice if there is more room on the dvd.....

I find it best to use compressor and export my videos with mp4 H.264 at about 5,000 Kbps with dimensions at 640 x 360. It is not hd, but it does give me great quality. Try with higher kilabit rates and keep your frame rate around 29.97 with a keyframe every 25 frames.
