auralcandynet Here's something I've always wondered about MixEmergency... Is there some good reason why MixEmergency settings folder is saved to /user/Movies/ instead of /user/Documents/ or /user/Library/ApplicationSupport/ like pretty much every other software? The content of my movie folder changes frequently and it contains large files, so I've left it out from my Time Machine back-up and I wouldn't be surprised if many users do the same. Guess who had to re-map his MIDI because he didn't remember to back up his mappings ;) There's also the fact the ME settings folder is kinda annoying at /user/Movies/ if one is particularly fussy user :) So...just wondering, why not use the standard location for user settings?
Nick 1) To make it easy to find (for support purposes). 2) The hope was that you would actually back it up with all of your video.... 3) To conform to what Scratch Live DJs might have expected (e.g. the Scratch Live library is saved in the Music folder) I know it's a little "unconventional", and I'm sure there are more reasons, but those are the first 3 that popped into my head.
skinnyguy so if i copy this folder to another lappy, then everything should transfer over, correct? including media bank snapshots and such?
Nick Yep - as long as the paths to that media are still the same. The only thing that won't, are some of the preferences (e.g. window positions, etc) - but everything else will (MIDI mappings, presets, etc).
Nick I'll also add, that other applications also do similar things (e.g. iTunes) with their user's data/library/settings.
