recording video and audio.

im new to M.E. and im not sure why. but, im not getting any audio or video signal to record a demo or set. i have cdj2000, djm800, serato and a mac. when i start the record option, it prompts me to the audio box where theres a device box with .. none and an input i can pick from. when i put it on the other input the level reads all sounds around me using the mic on my laptop im not sure if i need something else to record or just dont have the setting right. if theres anyone that can answer this or help out id appreciate it..

You need to run a cable from the output of your mixer, into the 1/8" audio input jack of your laptop.

The only input I have on my laptop that's 1/8 is the headphones input.. will it convert to input instead of output for a headphone? Also, is there a certain setting that I have to hanger for it to read the audio?

I can't remember off the top of my head whether you need to switch it to being an input in the System Preferences once you have inserted the 1/8" plug.... but yes, that port of your laptop will be a dual in/out port.

i have the audio working now... thanks for the help on that.. the video is not recording now. also when i go to export the file i can not click on the file name to export it..

Can you explain your recording and exporting process a little more? (Just so I can try to figure out what is going wrong) What files are being recorded?

i have all my equipment hooked up.. i open up serato then open M.E. . i open new recording and it prompt me to a save screen. i have a folder called mix emergency recording i click on to save the recorded file too. it then prompts me to the audio screen and i use "built in input" and the advanced part of the box is "wave" and "apple lossless" i recorded on wave and then i click "stop" . i then went to the task bar and click on "export recording" and tried to click on the recorded name file and i can not click the file name to export. i see the file in the export box. but, its not clickable.

Can you copy and paste the full name (including extension) of the recording file for me?

Ok - that is the name of the recorded audio file. Is there also a file named: /Users/macowner/Desktop/mix emergency recordings/Recording.MixEmergencyPerformance This is the file that you need to export the video from your recording.

I'm gonna record a new file n make sure I do the steps.. ill see if it works then. I'll post the results..
