13 Inch Macbook Pro w/Lion - Video Freezes up 10 minutes into mix

Good Day, I have a 13 Macbook Pro, mid-year 2010 w/ 2.6 ghz dual-core processor & 4 gbs of ram. The software versions I have are scratchlive 2.3.3 and just downloaded the latest version of ME. I have analyzed all the vids in serato twice since the change in OS and Serato. I have brought down my buffer setting to the lowest setting. But the videos freeze up 10 minutes in. I have tried on numerous attempts to see if it may be the videos... each time using different vids... same out come. Is there any preferred settings I should be using or something i should do to the mac or serato? Or is the mac not enough to run both programs?

Your MacBook Pro specs are fine. Is this happening at home, or in the club? Can you install SMCFanControl to monitor the temperature of your computer? (just to check that it's not overheating) Are you also getting audio drop-outs? Are you playing your videos from your internal hard-drive, or from an external drive? (and if it's external, then what connection - e.g. USB, Firewire, etc)

At my home. I will install the SMCFancontrol and see whats going on there. No audio drop-outs. External Hard drive, Firewire no error or frame rate messages either..so i'm lost.. I have set the secondary monitor to 800x600 at 56hz

Yeah, that's really odd (I assume by "frame rate" you mean "key frame" warning messages?) - all your settings/specs look fine. Is Scratch Live writing any tags when the freeze occurs? I would recommend copying a bunch of videos over to your internal drive and do a few test mixes with those, just to see if it is the drive that might be causing this. Also, can you elaborate a little more on the freezes that you're getting? Are we talking "freezes" where the video completely stops for more than a few minutes? Or are we talking about "freezes" that might occur for perhaps only a few seconds? .... etc

after running the fan control, serato and ME for 10 minutes... it got no hotter then 171F

freezing for a few minutes...even when loading a new track... the screen will stay blank till about 3-5 minutes into the track..

I turned on both programs(serato and ME) and i had a phone call, without loading a track... when i came to test run... the program was already frozen...Im sure im doing something wrong with settings.. or something

Ok... I just did a lil more searching in my mac... some reason i have quicktime x in my Apps, and Quicktime 7 in my utilities... would this be a problem? or is it normal?

I can't imagine what would cause that behavious. I don't believe the QuickTime X/7 Player would have anything to do with it. Can you zip/archive and e-mail (to contact [at] inklen [dot] com) your log file? You can find it in ~/Movies/MixEmergency/MixEmergency.log and, if possible, your preferences, which can be found at ~/Library/Preferences/com.inklen.MixEmergency.plist
