What size should my images be? Entire screen, not watermark

When I video DJ most of my files are videos, but some are .mp3 files. I want to be able to put up an image of the clubs name while I play .mp3's. Every time I use an image, it seems to be a little blurry. I have tried 640X480 and it seems blurry too...?

Generally you want them the size of your output monitor. What do you have your output monitor set to? And what do you have the Quality preference set to?

The monitor is a 50 inch wide screen TV- using RCA video cable. I'm not sure what I have the quality preference to.

Ok - what are the output screen dimensions set to in Mac OS X? (on the Display panel in the System Preferences)

I recommend that you set it to the size of the videos that you will be playing (e.g. 640 x480).

the videos show up fine, it's only the pictures that show up distorted. Should I create images at the same size at the output of the mac?
