Svm 1000 with midi

Recently decided to start video mixing properly. In the club I work at we have an svm 1000 which I use with Serato and ME. I've been using it without any midi but wanted to try and map the mixer to save me manually fading the videos over on MacBook. Just wanted to know the best way of mapping it so it just mixes the videos along with the music. So when I mix from one song to the other the videos fade as well. I only use the up faders on the mixer as well so didn't want to map the mixers cross fader. Is this possible? Thanks!

Does the SVM 1000 do MIDI via the USB cable on the back of the mixer? If not, you will first need a MIDI to USB convertor device to connect the mixer to your computer. It is possible to mix using MixEmergency with just the upfaders, but you may need to also map the crossfader (I'm not 100% certain whether the crossfader needs to be mapped - I'd have to check this in the morning). Once the crossfaders are mapped, you need to push the "Link Upfaders" button on the Transition section of the Control Window - shown as #4 here: http://www.inklen.com/mixemergency/manual/controlwindow/ Once that is enabled, and your upfaders are mapped, then you will be able to fade your videos using the upfaders.

Hi Sam, You don't need a Midi -> USB adaptor with the SVM. Simply connect the MacBook to the rear USB socket with a standard A->B lead. The SVM appears as a midi device on the mac and can be mapped in the standard way. I personally have the upfaders on channels 2 & 3 mapped to the upfaders on ME and the crossfader linked with ME's crossfader. I then map the 'Fader Start' buttons as follows: Button 1 -> Upfader 1 Link, Button 2 -> Upfader 2 Link, Button 3 -> Link to Crossfader, Button 4 -> Link to Upfader. This then allows me to select how the software is controlling depending on the transition/mix I'm performing. The only other mapping I then assign is the Hi EQ on channel 4 (the channel I pipe ME's mixed video output through) to select the transition type. I use this set up every week so know it works ;)
