live feed and capture cards?

I was going to purchase ME but was wondering if you can use a capture card such as show xpress and get live video feed in ME. Someone over at the djchat boards is doing it through virtual dj so can me do it too?

Currently live video feeds from cameras can be used in MixEmergency through either the 'live feed' hidden feature (mentioned on this forum), or through the use of Quartz Compositions. I'm not familiar with the show xpress video capture card. If it is available to QuickTime as a recording source, then it should also be able to be used with MixEmergency. Are you wanting to use any input as a live feed (e.g. tv, output of another computer, etc), or just a live feed from a camera?

Just live feed from a camera. One of the pan/tilt ptz cameras like the sony evi cameras.

If you're just after a live video camera feed then I would recommend using a Firewire capable DV camera (they're inexpensive and I know that they will work with MixEmergency). I would be interested in hearing if anyone else uses or has tried these sony evi cameras with MixEmergency.

I'll be buying a ADS PYRO dv capture card that changes analog signals into DV video. This should work hopefully.... I don't want a regular firewire camera because I'd like to hang the camera on my truss and use the pan/tilt/zoom features (PTZ). Not sure if the demo mode has a time limit on it...ill have to check that out, downloaded it a few months ago and didn't have my camera yet to test it

That does sound very promising.

Had to post back this works! ADS pyro goes for 130-140 at newegg and you can connect any camera that has svideo or the yellow rca video cable up to the mac and it will work with mix emergency and the mac PiP program. Do I get anything for testing this out for you? ;-) lol
