Need ADVICE: iShowU, Screenflow or MixEmergency? Help me to record DVD

Ok, I really need help here. I would like to put down an hour long DVD mix with menus that is decent quality for today's HD/flatscreen TV's. I have the latest generation of alu-unibody MacBook Pro with 2.8GHz & nVidia 9600 Graphic. First I need to know iShowU, Screenflow or MixEmergency internal recording? Which one will give me better results, better quality and flawless recording? Which setting should I use? Can I somehow get uncompressed video recording? I would really like to use Sony Vegas, as I am more familiar with, but I can use Final Cut as well for later work on (adding tags, text). So what format/settings is recommended (AVI, MPG, MP4)? I really need to know right settings and format to record and export. My tools: - MacBook Pro alu-unibody 2.8GHz, nVidia 9600 - Rane TTM-57 - MixEmergency - iMic (to get sound back in the MacBook, otherwise I can't record the sound) - Screenflow - iShowU HD - Sony Vegas (PC over parallels on the same MacBook Pro) - Final Cut Recording in the same MacBook Pro that I play from.. And a brief question. Does my settings for external monitor influences recording video quality (600x800) Thank you

I'm not familiar with iShowU or Screenflow, but I would say that recording and exporting your video with MixEmergency would be the best option. This is because you will have greater flexibility (e.g. you can export the video multiple times, at any frame rate or dimensions), and most likely get better picture quality (I'm not sure about iShowU or Screenflow in particular, but I have witnessed "tearing" artifacts in several videos that users have recorded with screen recording applications). Also, the output frame rate is fixed with MixEmergency (to whatever you've set it to), and so will give a more accurate frame rate than a screen recording application. I'm also not familiar with Sony Vegas - so I don't know what formats are best for working with this particular application. Perhaps someone else can give some advice on that? Regarding your external display settings - these will not have any influence on the video recording quality of MixEmergency, as these can be changed during export (e.g. you can record your mix at 640x480 and export it at 1280x720).

"...recording and exporting your video with MixEmergency would be the best option. " I second this. To get audio I take an RCA to 1/8 Jack cable and plug the rca's to the "record out" outputs on my mixer and the 1/8 jack to "line in" on my mac. i haven't came across any problems at all.
