Frame Rate Fluctuation

Hi Nick, (Assuming you are still single handedly answering forum questions.) I'm using a MBP2010 to run some 720p videos done with Apple intermediate codec off an internal SSD (with serato). The set up runs real smooth and everything is super stable except I get reasonably big frame rate fluctuations. It jumps quite quickly from around mid 30s frame rates (sometimes as low as 31) to between 50 and 60 FPS. When doing a proper set it is USUALLY in the mid 30s fps. It NEVER goes lower than the frame rates of my videos (mostly 25 fps) - does this mean It's nothing to worry about? I just want to make sure this doesn't mean my computer is struggling or anything to avoid embarrassing crashes and I am also pretty anal about getting the highest quality out of my videos so I would hate to hear that frame rates in the mid thirties could cause stuttery video. The CPU goes between 16 percent and 30 percent. My secondary is 60hz (1280 by 720) and I can't change that for the moment. Changes to quality and secondary display size can make it run at higher frame rates more often but even at 20 percent quality I still get mid 30s frame rates a lot. Basically makin sure that mid 30s fps is normal and that there is not something I should change. Thanks in advance.

It's normal to have some frame rate fluctuations, and I would say that what you are seeing is normal for the output and video quality that you are using (for that MBP at least). You say that it's not possible, but if you do have a situation where you can, I would try changing the refresh rate and seeing if that has any positive effects.
