Lagging waveforms...

Hi here Nik or anyone else that can help, firstly this is my first post on here and must say very impressed with Mix Emergency. Was totally p.....ed off with vsl s jumped ship and purchased this a few months back. Ive been using it in the house just mucking about but last night decided I was going to use it in club for a 5 hr video set. My specs are: 15" macbook pro (Pre unibody) with latest operating system, 500gb hard drive (internal) with 200gb free, i've got 4gb of ram, using scratch live 2.2.2 and me 1.6, have a 1tb wd external hard drive (for video only) which has 500gb free and all files are ok.. The problem I noticed last night was the waveforms very stuttery, shakey and just looked as if things were going to go wrong, but thankfully they didnt. I tried moving some settings like screen refresh rate for example but nothing changed, do you have any ideas??? I hope this isnt too vague or Im not bringng something up that was mentioned previously... Thanks for your help and your product Dave

Hi Dave. The "lagging waveform" problem a common problem for a number of users. Often there are a few things that can fix/reduce it: 1) Changing the refresh rate of the external monitor to something other than 60 Hz (though it sounds as if you've tried this already - unless you meant the screen refresh rate in Scratch Live - with no success). 2) Make sure that the external monitor's dimensions are not large (e.g. set them to 640x480 instead of 1920x1080). 3) If none of this works, and you would prefer that your screen doesn't stutter, but don't mind if the output image is compromised, then you can turn off the "Synchronise Output to Screen Refresh" option in the Advanced panel of MixEmergency's Preferences. If you do experience this problem again, don't stress too much - it is not going to compromise the stability of either MixEmergency or Scratch Live.

Hi Nick Thanks fr the speedy reply, yes it was the screen refresh rate in scratch live I changed, the only problem I have with the external monitr is that this is ging out to 10 plasmas and a huge screen..So dont think I could go round changing each of their settings. I dont have any issues with the quality on screen only with the waveforms so I may try turning off the synchronise output see what happens. I noticed another issue the other night, was messing around and thught id use my internal camera on macbook pro and put image on screen, placed the dvi download file you supplied into player a but then started having mega issues with quality of picture and also the sound kept cutting out, Any ideas?? You don't need to change the setting for each of your external monitors, you just need to change it in the Display panel of the Mac OS System Preferences. Regarding your internal camera causing poor performance: I'm not sure what would be the cause of that. The specs of your MacBook Pro seem to be fine. Can you try it again (not at the club) and see if you are able to reproduce this?
