Mix emergency won't start unless I re-download the app from your site and other issues

Every time I boot up my computer and then try to go into Mixemergency it won't open until I re-download the app from your site. This is undesirable because I won't always have internet access. How do I permanently install mixemergency so I don't have to keep downloading it. Also: It seems like the app is choking. The videos stagger when I play them. Also: How do I find the menu or means to activate the recording function? I don't see where I can enter that feature. Thanks.

That is very odd. Does it give you any error messages when you attempt to open it? To permanently install MixEmergency, all you need to do is to drag it from the downloaded disk image into your Applications folder. Regarding staggering: what size is your external monitor set to? If possible, set this around 640x480. Regarding the recording function: check the menu bar at the top of the screen. There is a "Recording" menu in which you can select to begin a "New Recording...".

What screen? What menu bar? I only see the output monitor, the cue monitors, the text, overlay and quartz boxes. I see no mix emergency menu or screen. No recording icons.

The menu bar is that area along the top of your Mac's screen (it has the apple symbol in the left-hand corner, and to the right of that are the menu items for whatever application you're using).

When I try to play a video that was a VOB which was converted to and H.264 MP4 I get the following message: /Volumes/4TB ExFAT/Day26 f.Yung Joc & Diddy-Imma Put It On Her-71-2000’s Hip Hop 2200 Default.mp4 Warning: You may experience poor performance using this video codec. /Volumes/4TB ExFAT/MPEG 4-MUSIC VIDEO MASTER LIBRARY/2000's/Hot Video/2009/Hot Video June 2009 MPEG 4's/Day26 f.Yung Joc & Diddy-Imma Put It On Her-71-2000’s Hip Hop.vob.MP4 Warning: Distance between keyframes is greater than recommended. The video picture kind of flutters when I play it. My other videos don't do that. What can I do to make that stop from fluttering? Thank you.

What program did you use to convert the video? The warning "You may experience poor performance using this video codec" makes me think that either it isn't an MP4 container, or it's not H.264 video. I imagine that this warning will be the reason that you're getting fluttering frames.

It seems to work on videos that were coverted at a bit rate of 2200 or less. Once you put the rate at 2300 it starts to flutter. It gets worse when you go to 2500. New issue: I was able to record a the visual part of the video performance. But where is the audio? I did the audio settings but the mov recording has no audio. I chose the built in audio option. Do I have to run some cable or plug from somewhere back into the computer? I would like to just have a recording with the video and audio all wrapped up in one shot with no additional wiring or hook ups. Please let me know how to record video with audio in the same file. Thanks so much.

For the audio you need to run a cable from the output of your mixer into the 1/8" audio line-in input on the side of your MacBook Pro. You can check that everything is set up correctly by playing music through your mixer and then checking to see whether the level meter on the Recording window shows any signal level. Regarding your MP4 videos, what program are you using to convert them from VOB to MP4?

Thanks for the info.You are very helpful.I have not been using the mac side of my mac too much until now. I have been using windows in bootcamp because I was running Virtual DJ for videos with my serato box. But now I want to go back and forth between serato on mac and VDJ on windows. I bought your app for the visuals that can go with MP3's, your text and recording features so that Serato video is more desireable for me to use. I use AVS Video Converter.

Would it be possible for you to upload the video that is producing the "You may experience poor performance using this video codec" warning so that I can have a look at it? The best way to do this is by using http://www.sendspace.com/ (or another file hosting service).

Hi. I am now using videos that were converted from VOB to H264 MP4 iso V.2 at 2000 bit rate and they seem to play good but.....I keep getting the following mixemergency message: /Volumes/4TB ExFAT/H264 June 2009 Hot Video/Keri Hilson f.Kanye West & Ne Yo-Knock You Down-77-2000’s R&B.mp4 Warning: You may experience poor performance using this video codec. It seems that only those H264 videos converted at a bit rate of 2000 play without flutter. 1900, 2100, 2300 and 2500 do not play well. I can send you a video sample in either drop box or yousendit.
