I don't have any specific recommendations as far as brand/model go - so I'll let someone else voice their opinion on that. My only recommendation is that it should be a Firewire hard drive, and obviously the faster the better. And I would recommend either a backup hard drive, or keeping enough videos on your internal drive in case you have any external hard drive problems (problems are very rare, but it's always good to have a backup).
