ive been personally told by someone at Serato they will now unveil the VSL plugin to work with a reg Sl1 box this weekend at the namm show. are you gonna consider dropping prices for the ME plugin or stick with competition and keep it at the same price? i think your software does run smoother tho.

Yes, Serato posted in their forum (just after MixEmergency was released) that they were working on adding SL 1 support for VSL. At his point in time we have no intention of dropping the price of MixEmergency. I think our software runs smoother too - so maybe we should increase the price, haha ;)

One of the main problems with MPEG2 support is that Scratch Live currently does not support reading/decoding of the audio data. So even if MixEmergency did support decoding of MPEG2 video, we wouldn't be able to use it like we use MP4 files with Scratch Live (unless you wanted to go through your entire library and use the "link to audio" function).

Wouldn't that only be true if the MPEG2 files was muxed. What if it was unmuxed? Then you would have a MPEG2 video file and a Aif or PCM audio file. Couldn't you make it work as a unmuxed set of files easily?

I know that when I get my Promo Only files my process is to unmux them using one program and then remux them using DVD studio Pro. This way I lose nothing and get them out of the VOB container that they are in. I find that this is the best way to make (or remake) DVD's so I can get them into custom discs. The files are the exact same length so unless there is any latency you should still have a perfect matched set of audio / video. I am also assuming that you (or Serato) can handle a Quicktime container and if you add the $20.00 MPEG codec from Apple this would give you the ability to do MPEG files. What's the downside to this?

Yes, I haven't actually tried Apple's MPEG2 codec yet, but it should work. The only problem I can see (currently - with MixEmergency 1.0.2) is that I would think that the MPEG2 codec from Apple won't allow MixEmergency to buffer video frames in the most efficient way. I'm not sure how many different codecs you have tried with MixEmergency, but you may have noticed that for some codecs (for example MPEG1 - which I my digital still camera records to) MixEmergency will give you a warning message (and the progress bar will turn red) warning you about the fact that the codec may play inefficiently. This isn't too much of a problem in most cases, but it can be a problem if you're making the media play backwards for a period of time, for example.
