Quartz Composition

Hey Nick, I gave up on qc awhile ago and now seem to want to torment myself some more. I bought a new mbp 17 about 6 months ago and Ive been googleing my ass off trying to get this going. So far from what I gather is that I have to join the developer deal at apple and dowload the codec x. It then will be located in my developers folder and I go from there. Is this correct. Seems Im going in small circles trying to just get the developer, codec x / quartz composer. I found in some places that it was on my applications install dvd but it was not there. So now I have joined the developer community and downloading codec x 3.2.6 Is this the right track or am I chasing my tail still? Thanks

Kinda. On your Mac OS install DVD there will be an install package for the "Developer Tools". Just install this and it will install Quartz Composer as part of it.

Now that I have some QC education. I was under the impression I could control size and position of composition, Is there something im missing or have to do this in QC before I load it into ME? What I am trying to accomplish is a qc in the lower left corner of the vid I am playing. Spinning exploding dj name. As of now it covers the whole screen wether I load into the main window or the overlay. I have seen vj mixes where they have their dj name in the lower left that explodes etc. Am I on the right track or is there another program to accomplish this? Thanks for the help.

You have to position all of your elements within Quartz Composer before loading it into MixEmergency. If you're using a Sprite/Billboard patch in QC then you'll need to adjust the X/Y position and the size of that patch.
