Hey Nick. I just purchased the software and pretty much I'm happy with it. I bought M-Audio MIDI and can't get it to work smoothly the way it should with the cross fader. I have a MacBook Pro 2.2 ghz intel Core 2 Duo and 4 gb of ram. I'm trying to link up the cross fader with my DJM-800. Any suggestions or recommendations on what MIDI I should buy? Thanks for a great Plug-in.

Okay, are you able to link the crossfader at all? Or are you just having issues with the tracking of the MIDI fader (i.e. the crossfade isn't smooth for you)? There is a basic MIDI connection tutorial for MixEmergency here:

Thanks for the response. I did exactly what the tutorial showed. I'm able to link it to the cross fader, but it does not run smooth at all. I have to keep going back in forth on the croos fader to get the video to move over to the other side. I'm not sure if it's the MIDI product that I bought that is not allowing it to run the way it should, or something to do with the settings in the software. Thanks for your help

That's strange. Can you do a test for me? 1. Can you start MixEmergency and connect your MIDI device/mixer as you normally would. 2. Open the MIDI Window (you can access this from the menu bar). 3. Move the crossfader to the furthest right position. 4. Enable MIDI logging in the MIDI window. 5. Move the crossfader to the furthest left position (if possible, take around 2 seconds to move it). 6. Disable MIDI logging. 7. Copy and paste the output produced in the MIDI logging window into this discussion. Hopefully we can sort this issue out for you quickly.

Thanks. The output isn't quite what we would be expecting. The mixer should be able to output MIDI Control Change messages (they start with 0xB0 - 0xBF). I've got a few beta testers who are using the DJM 800, so I've e-mailed them to see how they have set up their mixers. I'll let you know what I find out.

When you option-click on the crossfader in MixEmergency, what number does it show in the MIDI assignment window that pops up?

I've looked at the manual for the DJM 800, and it specifies that the crossfader should be sending MIDI Control Change messages - so the above output is very strange.

2 and 32 will appear when I go back in forth on the crossfader. MixEmergency will read it, but I have to keep going back and forth and order for it to cross over, and it will sit in the middle. It seems like a weak signal or something? Any suggestions?

So it changes between the two numbers while you're trying to assign it? If so, that is very strange and definitely won't work correctly. It's hard to say where the problem might be. What is the exact model number of the MIDI device that you purchased?

Can you try downloading this application: http://snoize.textdriven.com/MIDIMonitor/ and check exactly what MIDI messages are being sent when you move the crossfader? I would be interested to see the output. Also, can you check that you've connected the MIDI Out of your mixer to the MIDI In of your MIDI interface correctly.

I do have MIDI out connected to the back of my pioneer mixer, the usb connected to my Mac, the only wire that is not connected is the MIDI IN. That's how I have it. Not sure what I'm doing wrong, But hope I can figure this out soon. It does read it and pick it up. Their is just a big Lag.

I'm confused here...set me straight. Don't you set-up midi controls for Serato INSIDE Serato? I know that for the DJM-800 I don't have to do anything but select the control I want to control from my mixer while inside the midi set-up inside Serato. What am I missing here?
