Slight glitches first night out

Happy new year everyone, my first night out using mix emergency was pretty good. I did run into a few issues that we cab hopefully iron out easily. First problem i had was with the midi mapped cross fader on my mixer. With the demo version it was working fine. With the licensed version the cross fader does not control the video fader in ME. The strange thing about it is that in the midi window within ME i could turn on midi logging and whenever i moved the cross fader on my mixer i could see the values changing in the midi log. I tried re-mapping it but " option clicking " on the fader did not do anything. The other problem was when playing audio files a video would load. All night long, on every audio track i played i would have to eject the video on ME and every time i would make sure that the link audio tab was off, but for some reason it would still link the same video with whatever song i played. Other than that all went great, can't wait to sort these little bugs out, so far i love this software. Thanks, Alex

In the MIDI window, how many MIDI sources does it say that it has found? It's strange that the MIDI messages were being logged correctly. Would you be able to post some of the MIDI logging output that you get when moving the crossfader on your mixer?

I can't right now, i don't have the mixer at home. Any idea why i can't alt-click on any of the controls to map them ?

Okay, I've found a bug. It's a very very minor change (i.e. one line of code), so I will create a version 1.0.2 and upload it later today after I've tested it a little more. You will have to use the previous version if you wish to map controls until then (you can use that version to map the controls, and then open the new version and the controls will work).

Cool, one more thing you might want to try before the next update. I just tested ME with some random files and for some reason it sometimes links a random video with the audio from songs in some of my folders on it's own. I click on the "Link with audio" button to turn it off and eject the visual but when i load another song it turns the link with audio feature back on and loads the video.

That sounds like it may be a larger problem to fix (if it is a problem). Can you e-mail me these two files: ~/Movies/MixEmergency/LinkLibrary ~/Movies/MixEmergency/MediaLibrary Have you linked a bunch of songs to videos already? If not, you will be able to delete the LinkLibrary file and all audio/video links will be removed the next time you start MixEmergency.

I haven't linked all that many songs. The ones i did link where more of a test to show the capabilities of the software to another dj so i can delete them with no worry. I'll e-mail those files now. Where can i find those 2 files ?

They're in the MixEmergency folder that is inside your Movies folder.

It looks as though it is probably a song that you have linked to a video that is being mistakenly linked to all songs. It may be to do with the tags of the song - but I'll find out once I can have a look at the files.

BTW. I deleted the link library file and that cleared my issue. Thank u.

Just had a quick look at the files. It looks as though it is the fault of our linking algorithm. Currently we try to find the closest match to the audio file that you have loaded. Because you only had one link in your Link's Library the current algorithm thinks it has found a match (which is a bug). If you link more than one file this should not occur. We may add an option in version 1.1 to disable this "closest match" behaviour or just have it only link to exact matches for the audio file.

Tried it out briefly, all seems to be fine. Second live gig with it tomorrow, Can't wait. Thanks for the quick fix.

Round 2 - M.E. Wins. All went well. The only difference i noticed was within serato while running ME, the waveforms where running a little jerky. It did not have any effect on the performance of either software though, so overall i am extremely happy with ME. Thanks again, Alex.

Glad to see such quick progress. The only change i would like to see implemented as of now would be for music videos that are followed by audio only tracks to be automatically ejected. In other words, say i play 2 music videos back to back and then load a mp3 file, the video from the last file i played pops up again. It's no big deal, i caught on to this early on and simply made it a point to eject the video whenever it happened. Other than that i can't think of much else right now. Can u tell us what changes are in the works already ? Thanks, Alex.
