Problem with 13 inch Macbook 2012 On mac os mojave with MixEmergency 2.7

I have a friend who recently upgraded to Mojave from Yosemite ,now his Mixemergency doesn't display video all windows are black ,what might be the problem? He cant upgrade past version 2.7 because he only owns a 2.7 key and without events due to the current global situation cannot afford to upgrade to a V3.0 key.he has used version 3.4.2 demo and things seam to work well but version 3.0.2 downwards dont work and just has black video windows

I Just figured out what was wrong,he was trying to load video files from an external hard disk with an NTFS partition scheme and things were not working because the files were read only ,but when they are copied onto the mac itself everything works fine
