Quality Setting??

I'm a new ME user and I have to say, this plug in is amazing! Way better then VSL. Hope it's just as stable :) Couple of questions. Most of my videos 640x480 (Smashvidz format). I have my screen output set to 800x600 with the quality set full 100%. Pipeline matches output. What exactly is an ideal setting for this? Am I doing this right? Last question. Is there anyway to initiate a video effect from the media bank without a midi? Can I use my 57 or a hot cue key on my Mac? Thanks for the help! Sorry for the newbie questions :)

Yeah - setting your quality to 100% will be fine. Though, I recommend setting your external monitor to 640x480 if you can. Regarding the media bank: currently you can only use a MIDI control (or the mouse) to trigger these.

I can set the output to 640x480 NTSC TV bu thte image looks cut off. When I set it to 800x600 it looks better, but I have black borders around. Any help or idea as to why? The vidz should get cut off if the resolution matches up. I have overscan on as well.

Also, if you can't get 640x480 (I can't get it on some of my monitors), what I sometimes do is to set the external monitor to 1280x720 (if it is widescreen, or 1280x960 if it isn't) and then set the Quality slider to 50% - which will make MixEmergency's pipeline size 640x360.

In the MixEmergency Preferences try setting your Scaling to Stretch for now while you are trying the different overscan/resolution options just to make sure that it is not MixEmergency that is cutting off the sides of your videos.

my pipeline and output is still 800x600 with my resolution changed to 640x480. Turning off overscan and adding stretch via ME helped out a bit. Let me snap a pic to show you what im talking about. I got an important gig this weekend and need this perfect if ya know what I mean. Thanks for the help! Oh BTW...im using HDMI out to an LCD TV. Venue has the same setup except I run it through an HDMI splitter to all of the LCD TV's.

That's weird that the output is still 800x600 when your resolution has changed to 640x480.... Can you try going out of full-screen mode and back into it to see if that fixes the it (assuming that you aren't in the normal windowed output mode to begin with)?

Ok...well whenever you get back then hit me up. I appreciate the help! Here is the problem im seeing. Nothing real big, but there seems to be more of a black border on the bottom of the screen then the top. Its like the video isnt centered up right. Should I start a new thread on this issue or just email you? Im experience bad lag of SSL when I synchronize the output to screen refresh rate. Once I deselect it, ME runs great. Any insight to this maybe?

It looks as though the MixEmergency might not be the correct size. Toggling the full-screen might fix it if you have changed the dimensions while ME is running. Does it look fine when you go full-screen using other video applications (QuickTime, or perhaps VLC)?
