henrygq im trying to assign the midi on the rane 68. and it doesnt work. it works with SSl. ive tried several midi assignments with the rane 68 and they all work. but it doesnt work with ME ive tried the nano kontrol with ME and it works. iknow how to assign midi. is there soemthign i dont know ???
Nick The problem here is that there are basically 2 modes that the Rane 68 is run in to communicate with your computer. I'm not sure what the official terms are for this, but for now I'll just call them the Public and Private mode. In Public mode you can use the Rane 68 as an audio and MIDI device in any programs you want to. In Private mode you can only use the Rane 68 with Scratch Live. The audio and MIDI becomes unavailable to any other programs. When you run Scratch Live it will automatically go into the Private mode.
djres-q Does this mean I cant get the midi mapping of one of my 68 cues, to work with the "random" transition button on ME?
Nick Apparently there is a way where you can plug 2 USB cables from the mixer into your computer and have one of them used by Scratch Live, while the other one is in the Core Audio/MIDI mode. This way you should be able to have the mixer's additional controls mapped to both Scratch Live and MixEmergency.
djres-q Yes, I read that on the serato forum, it sux, the whole purpose of the 68 is to swap DJs. Now I gotta clutter my setup with a usb hub. Maybe I'll just map my Dicers. Anyway, played with ME this weekend and love it.
henrygq thats true nick but that takes 2 usb plugs. and its actually more difficult then one thinks. say u wanna use the midi functions of me. u have to hit a button that crosses u over to that section. and then if u wanna pop over to serato again and use their midi. u have to hit that midi again. its stupid.
