How does MixEmergency Records Sound?

I haven't recorded a set before, but that is the next thing I want to do. My question is how is the sound recorded? Where does the Mac get the sound from? my mixer? from the Serato interface? I am curious because right now (without the Serato interface connected to my laptop) i only see Built-in input and Built-in Microphone in the Device pull down menu on the Me Record window, Please advice.

It records through your computer's audio input. So, you need to run a cable from the output of your mixer to your computer's line-in input.

Thanks Nick - I have a MacBook Pro 17". Is the line-in input the mini jack input next to the headphone inout?

OK, now my problem will be to find a s/pdfi to mini jack cable, my mixer out is SPDFI

Well, I've never really played around with S/PDIF connections myself, but most MacBook Pros (at least the one I'm on right now) can take S/PDIF signals through that input port. If you go to the Apple logo in the menu of your Mac, then "About This Mac" -> More Info -> Hardware -> Audio, then it will should list "S/PDIF Optical Digital Audio Input".

Nick, I was able to record my first video set. The sound, the video, the effects, and transitions were all captured perfectly. I used the M-Audio USB Audiophile Interface. My mixer has a coaxial digital output, from the mixer (with a digital coaxial cable) into the interface (s/pdif input port) then from the interface (USB output port) into the MacBook Pro (USB input port.)
