output to another application

Hey guys, have been rocking for ME for 4 weeks now and it is amazing, so versatile and easy to setup i am in love. quick question for you though, is there any way you know of to send the output, instead of to a full screen window, to another application, for instance as a layer in Modul8 so that it could be manipulated further and combine with other stuff? obviously one solution would be to run the output into another laptop and stream it in as a live layer but this is a lot of hassle and would prob lead to latency and lack of quality, be awesome to load it live into a secondary app.... just an idea. thanks Ben

Hmmm, kind of. Check this out: http://syphon.v002.info/ I think you can load Quartz Compositions in Modul8. You could set up a Quartz Composition overlay using Syphon in MixEmergency, and then have that send images to a Quartz Composition using Syphon to Modul8. It would be a little limited though, as you'd have to use the "Image" Quartz Composer inputs, and so the output would be pre-transition.

What became of this? I'm starting to mess with Syphon and would love to get some video from Scratch Live via Midi Emergency.

It is something that is still being tested by a few users. If you're interested in testing it out then maybe you could send me an e-mail detailing how you'd like to use it, the system you'll be running it on, etc, and I'll see if I can send you something to try out.

I've read that ME can use Syphon out, and seen a couple picts of the simple server receiving ME output, but don't find any way for demo to use it. Can you please tell me how this is done. I'm interested in using it this way. I really like the demo and if I can use Syphon I will buy. Kind regards.

It is possible - though not with just the demo version. This is something that is still being tested at this stage. Perhaps you could send me an e-mail explaining how you hope to use MixEmergency's Syphon output (contact details are here: http://www.inklen.com/contact/ ), and I will see if we can send you a preview version to test.

DID ANY ONE FIGURE OUT HOW TO GET MODUL8,ME,AND SCRATCH LIVE WORKING TOGETHER I WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE A FULL TUTORIAL IF ANY ONE COULD HELP PLEASE IVE TRIED THE SYPHON FEATURE BUT IT ONLY SENDS THE VIDEO TO THE SYPHON PROGRAM AND IM NOT SURE HOW TO GET MODUL8 TO RECIEVE THE VIDEO.

@DJ astro you need a quartz file to load into a clip in modu8. I have done this with grand VJ and it works great. you need these syphon files.

Dammit i cant find the link for the files anywhere right now... But they are on this website for sure. I just double checked on how to make it function again. and you need the .qtz syphon files.

ok ive tryed everything but it only shows on syphon simple client but nothing happens on modul8

when i double click on the quartz file it opens on quick time and it does play the vid but when the quartz is loaded to the modul8 window the screen is black other videos do play when loaded straight in to modul8 but no syphon.

I can't find the page right this second (i'm on a very slow/limited internet connection), but if you google syhon and modul8 then you will find instructions of how to get this working. There is a Quartz Composer plug-in that I think you need to install first.

ive installed two plugins already ive even looked at midithief's tutorial and still nothing:( i know its gotta b something really simple
