Exporting Video Stall

Alright, I started a new topic for this one. Hopefully it hasn't been mentioned. When exporting a video, I notice when it gets close to 100% and stalls (which I have mentioned before), I figured out a work around until this issue gets resolved. While it's in stall mode - I click the Apple sign in the menu bar and choose "Force Quit", as soon as I do that the MixEmergency exporting gets going again. I have to this for every pass until it is done. Is it annoying? A little. BUT, at least I can get my exports out ... which is a good thing :)

Damn, might send you an e-mail about this. I'm looking into another report of stalling right now too - which I'm not sure at this point if 1.6 fixes or not.

Mine used to stall as well but might be a different issue. I had to re encode the videos that i loaded to cue. Even though there was no bad keyframe warning with them, re encoding fixed the issue.

Hmmmm ... have you gotten some videos that freeze but the rest play back fine. I'm wondering about encoding on those as well

Yea i had some videos that would freeze he export. It turned out to be a video that i was loading up on the non output deck. Nick said ME was doing some funky stuff decoding it and hanging. I just recoded them and replaced them in their itunes folder. Then export went fine. He said he is fixing the issue for 1.6 but your issue could be different.

Gotcha. I noticed that if I re-encoded them, they would be fine (If I remembered which ones they were - lol). But if this gets fixed in 1.6, then GRAVY BABY! haha.

Hey Nick I made a mix and had the same export stall i was getting before. Except now im using 1.6.1. I had to re encode three videos before it could go through the whole export uninterrupted. Its the same problem as before. Just thought I would update.

Hmmm, okay. Well I have found one particular instance of a video that will still cause a stall in a similar fashion to the case that we fixed (it has to do with being unable to decode the final frame in a video). The video that was causing this is unlike any video I've seen previously, and I think that it may have even been produced in error by whatever application was creating it. Can you make sure that you make a note (and backup) of the videos that are causing this issue? I might get in contact once I figure out how to deal with the other video I've found, and see if that will fix this final issue.

ok, i just did an export, and 19mins into it it stalled i did what PopRoxxx suggested and it started again just letting you know

uggg Nevermind., it made it all the way to pass 2, and now its stalled but forcequit will not make it start up again

Try clicking on the Apple in the menu bar (to open the menu) and then closing it (I'm don't believe this will work, but I've had a few people report that it does). In theory, when the video stalls it should continue after a period of time. There appears to be one remaining issue, regarding the final frame of some videos, that is causing problems when exporting. In theory, if you leave it for a while it should simply continue.

nick that is waht i said i did in the first post, it worked, after it stalled the first time, but then on hte 2nd pass, it stalled again, and it didnt work that time. so i had to scrap the whole export process. I have to Dj again tonight so i do not have time to let it export for 2hrs. i will have to try to mess with it tomorrow.

Perhaps next time you can export it with a single-pass codec/preset.
