Wow, this is like a self help forum! For anyone else who needs to know, the answer to this question is simply that there is a parameter in preferences of what to do when non linked audio is loaded. Option to do nothing will cause previously loaded video to keep linking to any new unlinked track. Option to eject will unload the previously loaded video, or else you can choose to load some media bank stuff etc.
