Hey - I think you might be a little confused. It sounds as though you are trying to use MixEmergency to capture Video-SL's output? Is that correct? If so, MixEmergency is its own VJing application, and is a replacement for Video-SL (i.e. you don't need to run Video-SL). It has its own effects/transitions, overlays, and output screen. So, yes, you need to pick transitions using MixEmergency (or you can set it to Random to have MixEmergency change them for you). You can also select these transitions via MIDI controller or trigger preset transitions. Also, instead of going back and forth between the applications, you can have MixEmergency "float" (i.e. stay above) the Scratch Live window by pushing the "pin" icon in the top right-hand corner of the main MixEmergency window.
