jake - i am using TouchOSC in combination with OSCulator to make custom layouts for mix emergency that make using midi manageable. I might share my layouts and presets once i figure out the best possible configuration. TouchOSC runs 5 dollars on the app store and OSCulator is donationware. very worth it.
