Mix emergency workflow questions

I finally decided to do a bit of video DJing 1. Few questions about workflow using Serato DJ, ME and Ddjsx Whats the optimum way to do transitions from Deck A to B. Coming from doing audio only, I usually have my cross fader set to the sharpest setting as I only use it for scratching and quick switching eg when using instant doubles. At every time my fader is never completely to one side. In ME I have the cross fader linked to the hardware and This is messing up my visuals as when sound is live 100% and I check my screen I find out that it's just halfway through the transition of the visuals, then I have to adjust the cross fader to complete the visual part of the transition. 2. Is there a media bank option, when I play audio only files I will like ME to randomly select loops or clips from the "media bank" without having to do the "link with audio" bit. 3. Can anyone recommend a simple enough program to make video edits. Say I have video from YouTube but the audio is crap and I want to replace the audio with a better one. And it has to be synchronised. 4. Can I run mix emergency off another computer and still synced to the music playing from computer 1 its a great program

Hi, 1. You could try MixEmergency's Upfader mixing mode. This uses a combination of the position of the crossfader and upfaders to blend the videos together. To enable this, choose the icon above the crossfader that looks something like this -> t+t (that's the closest I can get with ASCII characters) 2. Yes, go the the Advanced panel of MixEmergency's Preferences. There is a preference there which allows you to configure what action is taken when an un-linked audio file is loaded. 3. I recommend that you get your videos from legitimate Video DJ services. 4. No - this isn't possible.

I figured out 1 & 2. Thanks. 3. I understand that but I play Afrobeats and African stuff. There are no "legitimate" pools for most of the stuff I'm planning to play. So I'm gonna have to do it that way. I have the audio from the promo pack the artistes send and some will include a link to their YouTube videos.

Many thanks Nick. More questions 1. I have some looped gifs and very short video samples eg a looping dancing character. How can I insert bpm into them so that when I load them they are in sync with the audio file playing? 2. I have some personal videos that I will like to edit the sound on them. Basically I want the video to output a different audio to what was originally recorded on them. Any suggestions of a program to do this kind of work Many thanks

1. It's not really possible to have them sync in this manner yet. 2. I'm not sure of the best tool for this, and there are of course a number of tools that can achieve this.

Can i achieve this with a quartz composition? There is a qtz of Bugs Bunny i downloaded striking a rock with a hammer and i noticed its in time with the music?

hi marv the qtz file uses the beatgrid or bpm of the song you can make your own by making a copy of bugz.qtz and edit in quartz composer replace the path to the video location and make sure the "number of beats in this video" parameter matches your video clip

Many thanks Radikarl. I tried to mess about with the "quartz composer", well at the moment i don't have a clue how to use it. It took me a while to even know how to use Final Cut Pro.
