Midi on 1.5

Hello, Last night I was playing around with the text overlay(haven't done so since the release of 1.5. Anyway, I Use the korg nano Kontrol and Ecler Nuo 4 as Midi controllers. On 1.4 i had mapped the NanoKontrol knobs and switches to control the parameters on text overlay, after updating to 1.5 i found that Enable switch and Mix knob are being control by one knob, doesn't matter how many times I clear the midi but if I assign a knob to Mix it controls both parameters. If I clear both enable and Mix and assign height, the knob I have assigned for height now control both mix and height. And also I noticed there is reverse button on the little window that comes up when assigning mid. Is anyone else experiencing this? Any help will be appreciated. Thanks. Alex..

Hi Alex, The "Reverse" button in the MIDI window is to allow users to reverse the direction of their MIDI control. For example, when using the effect mix control some people want to turn their MIDI knob clockwise to increase the effect mix, while some people want to turn it counter-clockwise. The reverse function allows them to reverse the default behaviour (which increases clockwise for most controller knobs). That's very strange that you're seeing with the Mix/Height controls. I'll see if I can reproduce this. For now, can you e-mail me your MIDI mapping file so that I can have a look at it. It is located at the path: ~/Movies/MixEmergency/Control Mappings/_AUTOSAVE.xml

Ok - I've managed to reproduce the problem (but haven't found the cause yet). Looks like the mappings for those controls have become mixed up.... so no need to send me your MIDI mapping file.

....ok.... another update: I've found and fixed a bug where the Opacity control was incorrectly mapped to the Enable control. The fix will be in the next version of MixEmergency. Apologies for any inconvenience in the meantime.

I just had a thought - if you really want to MIDI map that control you can still assign your MIDI control via the XML files that MixEmergency uses to load/save MIDI settings, as the bug is only in the code that communicates between the control and the MIDI mapping window. You can add it to the _AUTOSAVE.xml file I pointed out above. All you need to do is figure out the control number that you want to assign and add: <control channel="0" control="1" controltype="Range" key="TextOverlayOpacity" reverse="false"></control>to the XML file - where you replace the 1 in control="1" with the number of the MIDI control change message you want to use. It needs to be added between the <midi> and </midi> XML code. You can open the XML files in any text editor. Let me know if you need further help/instructions.

Nick, I edited the XML file as you advised , i noticed though that if you just save the file it doesn't correct the issue. Luckly with the 1.5 you can load a midi xml file under the midi window but you have to rename it . So its all sorted now. Thanks for your help. **I think there are a few other parameters that are mixed up, namely the FX ones, I cannot pin point at the moment but I will do some test tonight.***

Oh yeah, forgot to say that you should quit MixEmergency before editing that file. Let me know if you notice any other problem with MIDI parameters.
