djwyte Hi i just got ME and got it all setup Im using Scratch Live & a regular Macbook. I Cant get audio.... I tried Headphone jack to RCA into the Output of mixer into the laptop got nothing, I tried input also, nothing.. Anyone here using a Macbook can help me?? I'll search the forum for posts that may help Using s TTM57 Mixer too btw
Nick Hi djwyte, What you are doing sounds correct. Running an RCA to 1/8" jack from the output of the mixer into the Line In of your MacBook. Have you selected "Line In" as the input when you set up the recording in MixEmergency? And if so, are you able to see the level meters move when you play a song?
Nick Also, make sure that you've plugged in to the "line input" and not the "headphone output" of your MacBook. This is a common mistake for people to make.
djwyte Thank you for getting back to me Nick, I believe I tried all that but I shall try again.. Worst case is my RCA to 1/8" might be no good. But will deal with that if this does now work. Going to try it Right now... I will update you in a bit and thanks again! - DJ WYTE P.S. Yes I have been able to see the meters move but yeah no sound in the recorded file. But anyways I'll try again
djwyte OK Nick..... Didnt work... In ME all it asks its built In-Input and Microphone.. in which case I tried both and nothing. I see its getting the meter signal but no sound in finished recording... This is frustrating but need to record a demo this week so It be must resolved.. Help... Also... does it matter the quality setting? like the 4100 or 4800 on LPCM? also the volume knob... does it need to be at a certain level? (on ME) i have it around middle. Its just weird how its not working. Also went into Mac System Prefrences and Line-In is selected but yeah no sound still.. Let me know thanks.
Nick That's strange. "Built-in Input" is the one that you'd want to use. It should be working for both though. Can you let me know what version of Mac OS you're using? And what Mac hardware? (i.e. 2009 15" MacBook Pro, 2.4GHz) And, is there an audio file that is being recorded? (i.e. there should be a .wav file in the same place as your recording that is the same length of time as the recording)
djwyte Yeah nothings working... Using Macbook 2009 13" MAC OS X 10.5.6 2GHz And no.. there is no wave files being exported.
Nick Can you try these few tests: 1. Close MixEmergency 2. Delete the file at ~/Movies/MixEmergency/AudioCompressionSettings 3. Open MixEmergency and try to create a recording with audio If that doesn't work. 1. Select "New Recording" from the Recording menu in MixEmergency 2. Go to the "Advanced Settings" on the Record window 3. Toggle the "Little Endian" tick-box (i.e. if it's on, then set it to off or vice versa) Check to see if a .wav audio file has been created in either of these instances and let me know how you get on.
djwyte Hey Nick Ok the Endian thing hmm i tried it before i read this,as someone on the SSL forum told me about it. didnt work at all. I Then tried that DELETE AudioCompressionSetting and It WORKED!!! So It's all good now.. What a pain though and I'm sure everyone goes through this. I Really recommend You post a Sticky or Permanent link on the forum For everyone who runs into this problem.. AS Mix Emergency comes with NO Manual... or Instructions. Thank You so much... You really did help me out. - DJ WyTE
Nick Hey, glad to hear that it's working. Have you ever run one of the previous versions of MixEmergency (prior to 1.5)? As this is an issue that we have encountered before, and should have been fixed in 1.5. There is an online manual for MixEmergency here: http://www.inklen.com/mixemergency/manual/ It's also included in the Disk Image (DMG file) that you would have downloaded MixEmergency in. It hasn't been updated for MixEmergency 1.5 yet though, but should be shortly. Anyway, let us know if you have any further questions about MixEmergency.
djwyte No this was the first version i've tried.. Also...... damn now the transitions are gone... cant seem to load them. All it shows now is the effects...... ughhhhh ima look at that manual to see if i can solve it..
djwyte Yeah I don't know what happened............. But I have 2 boxs on the control window now that show effects. and no transitions.. Help plz....
Nick [you can do this by holding command-shift-4, then push space to put the screen grab tool in "window" mode, and then click this on the control window. Then an image, named Picture 1, 2, 3, etc will appear in your Mac OS Desktop folder]
Nick Thanks - I just sent a reply with an image pointing out the different effect and transition tabs on the control window. Let me know if you have any further questions.
