Resizing images in overlay makes them jagged

If I try to resize my image using the scale feature (to scale down) in the overlay panel, the image ends up jagged. The image is crystal clear at 100% but it takes up too much of the screen. I have also tried resizing the image in photoshop, resaving it, and then redragging the image to the overlay panel. However, when I do this the image is still the same size in MixEmergency. Nothing change at all. What am I missing here? I need to be able to downsize the image somehow WITHOUT losing quality due to scaling. Help?

I am in the same boat, if you find something out please let me know also. Is it possible to resize a photo in photoshop. Even when I resize my logo I can not get it to show up in .i.e. Avatar or profile photo. It always shows up extremely large.

So you're unable to scale your image at all in MixEmergency? I can scale mine within the ME software but anything less than 100% is somewhat jagged. The amount of "jagged-ness" differs depending what the image is scaled to within MixEmergency. I don't understand what MixEmergency is defining as 100% though if the size is unchanged after resizing in an external software (i.e. photoshop) and then re-imported into MixEmergency.

It looks to be a scalar resize which is just magnitude as opposed to vector which utilizes magnitude and directional. Perhaps this needs to be added to the 2.3 feature request thread.

No worries just appreciate the help Nick. At least now you can look at the actual file to so you'll notice it's not jagged at all. Here's a link with it scaled down to 50% via the overlay>image panel http://www.sendspace.com/file/6net3x And here it is at 100%. You'll notice it's not jagged at all. http://www.sendspace.com/file/dxo4yg Again, I've tried to size the actual file down in photoshop so that when I bring it into ME I should theoretically be able to set it to 100%. However, regardless what dimensions I size it outside of ME, it's always the same size when I bring it in.

If you go into MixEmergency's Preferences, to the Display panel, what is the Quality slider set to? I'm guessing it's set to something lower than 100%.

Nick, no it's actually set to 100%. Also if any other the other options make a difference in this issue they are as follows: Scaling: Fit Arrangement: Mix Enable Frame Blending: Checked Enable Anti-Aliasing: Unchecked ... Aspect Ratio: 16:9 Rate: High

Are you using the Advanced Output? On the Info window of MixEmergency (when you took these screenshots) what were the Output and Pipeline dimensions?

Nick yes, the box by "used advance output" is checked but when I click on "configure" I don't see anything that says "output" or "pipeline", only "size". The size is currently set at "640x480"

Ok - turn off the "Use Advanced Output" option and see what the quality is like now.

Nick that did it sir! Can you explain why though? Was I only outputting at 640x480 all the time with the way I had it setup rather than whatever the max res available for any given display? If so, What would be the max res I could enter into those fields allowed by ME? I remember turning that on at some point and resizing (smaller) the output area (dragging the corners) because the video was being cutoff on some of my venues output displays

That's correct - it was only rendering the internal pipeline (so everything gets scaled to this size) at 640x480. You don't really want to use the maximum resolution, just whatever the output dimensions of your screen are most of the time (so I would leave this option disabled for now in your case).
