Video Overlays with source media

Hey Nick! Great Job on 2.2. The cpu performance improvement is giving me a 1080p set at 55fps consistently :) Anyway I want to set up ME so that I can use an mpd to trigger short video clips that play over the output channel sort of like an overlay while im djing on serato I understand I could probably do this by midi assigning hte media bank as it will automatically load the media to the free deck. But then I have to have one deck free to do it like that. I basically just want to drum video samples in the output window while serato is playing on both decks. Is this possible? Thanks again mate.

I don't think that it's really possible using the Media Bank (at least, to get it as an overlay), but I think it should be possible to create a Quartz Composition that would load and play a small group of clips. I'm not sure what performance would be like - but that would depend on a number of factors.

In theory you could patch multiple videos through a multiplexer out to a billboard and even add a separate alpha channel and use a math patch to determine that if you hit a pad to play the entire clip or until you let go

DJevo1 I am working on a way todo this currently. But it involves you also running Resolume or Grand VJ (and I suppose Modul8 but I dont like it nearly as much as t he other 2). Start doing some reading on syphon. you could syphon resolume's output into the qtz overlay on ME and trigger video clips via midi in resolume to play. Get back at me if you want more info on how todo this.
