Are you mapping the buttons to presets in MixEmergency? If so, then the preset trigger buttons don't have a "state" (i.e. they're not on or off, but are just a trigger to load the effect). So, you should change your button type in your TouchOSC layout. I'm not sure of the types, but there should be an option to have either a toggle or trigger button.
