I probably should have posted more about these results a while back, but I'll just post these two test graphs here so you can see the difference between Lion and Mountain Lion. Lion (10.7): http://www.inklen.com/public/OutputLion1080p.png Mountain Lion (10.8): http://www.inklen.com/public/OutputMountainLion1080p.png (you can ignore the red line - it's just an extra averaging calculation I was doing) The graphs show time on the horizontal, and time per frame (in seconds) on the vertical. Both tests were done with a 1080p output monitor @ ~60 Hz. I don't remember the type of computer these were run on - but the results seem to be the same for every computer I tested. The lower value (just above 0.015) is approximately 60 FPS, the higher (just below 0.035) is approximately 30 FPS. So, as you can see from these graphs, Montain Lion maintains a higher, and more stable output frame rate. The tests involve running a custom test tool that sets up two windows on two screens (one on the laptop, and a full-screen window on and output monitor) and draws to both, in the same way that MixEmergency is set up to draw to both screens.
