Scrolling Text Overlay Issues

Hi, i am using scrolling text at a couple of venues i work at to promote drinks offers etc.. Everytime i use it after about 2 1/2 - 3 hours it seems like my video is struggling and get jumpy output and sometimes little audio drop outs, I have never noticed it before but didnt use the scrolling text feature all night until recentely, if i turn of the text it seems to go back to normal, thanks owen Macbook Pro i7 2.4 Quad - 16GB ram - 1GB ATI graphics - 500GB SSD - early 2011

That's odd. When you turn it off you say it goes back to normal. What if you turn it back on again? I'll try to find some time to see if I can reproduce this.

Also, when this occurs - can you check you RAM usage levels (with the Activity Monitor application), and let me know if you have run out of free RAM?

ok will do, i turn it off and if i put it back on again it still seems less responsive than it should be and may still get stutters but less than before, it feels like something like ram getting full up, but i have 16gb and it shouldn't be an issue, i have had similar problems in the past when running twiitter feed and i have to switch it off for a few minutes for ME to sort itself out, Just to add to the troubleshooting i think it may have something to do with my media bank and the text overlay because when it auto loads a media bank video if i then change it while the text overlay is running and i have been playing for say 2 hours approx. then it seems to get video stutters, so it may be something to do with how swapping out media bank videos during mixing while the text feed is running overloading or stacking too much at the same time? i dont know how it works so i am just trying to think of scenarios for you to try and re-create, i am working tonight and i am using a scrolling text so if i have the issue i will film it on my iphone so you can see and check the activity monitor, thanks owen

Ok. I don't think it'll be to do with the Media Bank. Let me know how you get on.

i think i may have worked it out, basically i think the venue it was happening the power wasn't great so, if the power dips my macbook goes to battery power only for a slight moment and then i had switching graphics enabled in my apple prefs. so i think it was switching to the less intel low power graphics card!! rather than staying on the dedicated graphics, i will test this friday and see if it has rectified the situation, thanks owen
