Thanks guys for this great plug in, I was thinking of buying the Rane 57SL but first I will test MixEmergency, I have the SL 1 box and the V-SL is that enough to use ME with serato? I have tried to play a few AVI videos but it seems there is no sound or the sound is very distorted. Thank guys

To use MixEmergency with Scratch LIVE you only need to have the Rane SL 1 (though you would also want a MIDI capable mixer to control the crossfading of the videos). The Scratch LIVE software requires you to have the Video-SL demo installed to import videos into the Scratch LIVE library. MixEmergency is a visualisation tool only and does not handle any audio. All audio is decoded and processed by Scratch LIVE. If the audio is distorted in Scratch LIVE it could be one of several issues. You should first try loading the AVI file into Scratch LIVE without MixEmergency running to see whether the issue is caused by MixEmergency. If the sound is still distorted then it may be an issue related to the audio codec used in your AVI file. If the audio is distorted only when MixEmergency is running, could you please check that Video-SL is NOT running (Video-SL is not required to run while Scratch LIVE and MixEmergency are running, and if it is running, then it may be using CPU cycles) and let us know a little more about your system details (CPU, RAM, OS version, etc) and some more details about your video (dimensions, video codec, etc).

Nick Thanks for your reply, I played an AVi video without MixEmergency there was no sound either, the waveforms on serato appears to be just a line. Anyway, I am using a MacBook Pro 2.4 GHZ 2GB RAM, 160G HD, Serato 1.8. amd MAC OS X Ver 10..5.5. I ripped the video with frames of 24, and I have tried both MPEG4 and AVI, MOV. Again thanks for your help.

I would first recommend updating to the latest version of Scratch LIVE (1.8.2). What program are you using to rip your videos? It looks as though it is ripping to an unsupported audio codec. Try ripping the video with AAC encoded audio (I know that the AAC audio codec is supported for video file in Scratch LIVE).

Nick, I found a solution, a Video Converter that is actually pretty good, even though some of the AVi videos that I was playing had no audio stream, i converted them to MPEG with AAC _ LC Audio codec, then I increased the audio's bitrate and the sampling frequency and it works great. Cheers

I see something about this explained above, but i'd like to check as it could be misleading. Do i need the rane mixer to be able to use the SL1 soundcard ? or... if i buy SSL, SL1 Soundcard, and a Mac, cdj's Will i have everything i need to mix videos and link into my clubs tv's ? I Have an Alen and heath xone:62 mixer. Is this compatable ?

You don't need the Rand mixer - but you would want a mixer that is capable of sending MIDI (or you could use another external MIDI controller to control the video fading separately). The Xone:62 does not support MIDI, so you can't use it to control the crossfader in MixEmergency (I believe the Xone:92 does though).
